Port of Paxi (Paxos)

Land Transport and Travel To and From Port Paxi
(Gaios, Paxi, Ionian Islands, Greece)

A road network serves all parts of the island, providing fast and convenient access to all villages. However some of the roads are in a poor condition in the more rural parts of the island.

Travel by Bus and Shuttles

A bus service is available from Gaios to Magazia, Logos and Laka, with frequent departures available throughout the day.

There is also a daily bus service to Athens via Igoumenitsa port. This ferry and bus combination is provided by KTEL, the national bus service.

Car Hire and Road Travel

Hiring a car is a great way to explore the small island of Paxi. There are several car hire companies in the town of Gaios. It is however advisable to book you car hire in online and in advance as you are guaranteed to get the best deal and the car of your choice.

Car Parking

If you have your own car, you will find a limited number of spaces available in the port area. However, should you wish to leave your car for a long duration, you should contact the port authorities for further advice on +30 066 232 259

Travel by Taxis

If you are travelling in the peak summer season, you will generally find very few taxis as the island is small enough to travel around by foot. If you travel out of season, you will find even fewer taxis available and they will be very expensive as they have the monopoly of business.
